Google can now transform your Discover feed into an AI-created podcast

Google is now teasing individual an experimental man-made intelligence (AI) choose a podcast depending on your Search and Discover history. Apparently the Daily Listen feature in Google Search Labs is being released to Android and iOS users in the US as reported in 9to5Google and works on similar lines as Audio Overviews for Google’s NotebookLM project.

Daily Listen uses the search data and Discover feed engagement to determine which news articles the user would find most engaging and then condenses that information and the related stories and topics into about five minutes of audio. It includes a text stream that users can read while using audio controls to play, pause, stop, rewind, other to skip to the next story.

The experiment will in the end make Daily Listen appear in the widget carousel below and under the Search bar at the top of the Google app for Search Labs users who agreed to try it. Below there will be a “Related stories” bar at the bottom of the audio player that will be associated with content within the overview which users can like or disapprove of each story with a thumbs up/down and discover new topics.

As to whether this feature will be made available for the general public, there is no information about when this will happen. Google used Advertising Search Labs to test its new ad features in a similar way before rolling them out to an audience last year, so it’s possible that Daily Listen might become a constant part of Google’s regular offerings — possibly something that users won’t be able to easily turn off, unlike the recent AI .

/ Daily Listen build a about 5 min synopsis of the search topics which you are interested in.
