LG does not plan on waiting until the start of CES to show off its new range of gaming monitors. The 2025 lineup is spearheaded by the UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor for which LG is confident was dubbed as the ‘world’s first 5K2K-resolution bendable OLED display.’ I don’t think it could be much narrower than that, but then again, it’s always good to boast when you’re the first. This is a 45-inch monitor with 5120 pixels horizontal by 2160 pixels vertical resolution which gives you the height of normal 4K monitor, but a much greater width to play games on.

The UltraGear GX9 series currently comes with two 45-inch monitors which the company believes will be perfect for both gaming and productivity needs.

It seems that LG is pushing an aspect ratio of 9 because they claim it offers ‘better gameplay immersion than 16:9 displays, and better compatibility than the 32:9 monitors.’ This format also makes the display well-suited for productivity work when you’re not gaming.

For the UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor (model 45GX990A), LG offers a range from 0 to 900R, and the new version of LG’s Dual-Mode function “lets users freely switch between predetermined resolution/refresh rates and adjust the aspect ratio/ picture size”. It supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, although the company’s press materials don’t provide information regarding the maximum refresh rate. I have tried to get more information there.

LG is also launching a variant without bend ability but the screen has an 800R curvature hence permanent. Otherwise, it is the same 45 inches in size, same aspect ratio and the same 5K2K resolution. According to the press release by LG, you are going to find “Sharp, lifelike images with the rich colours and high contrast ratios which are the hallmarks of LG OLED products”. Key specifications common with both monitors include having a 0.03ms (GtG) response rate and come with DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C ports with 90W power delivery. For text readability on the screen, the 45GX950A comes with an RGWB sub-pixel arrangement in order to make the aforementioned productivity work easier on your eyes.

In addition to these two monitors, LG is also coming out with the curved UltraGear 39GX90SA, a webOS home entertainment hub that is designed directly into streaming services – just as if it is one of LG’s TVs. Samsung’s smart monitors appear to have provided some ideas to the firm here. At 39 inches, this one’s a bit smaller than the other GX9 displays, but it retains the 21:The screen size is a 9 aspect ratio and possesses 800R curve. Continuing on from the tech features, it has USB Type-C connectivity that ensures easy connectivity, and the company’s L-shaped ergonomic and space-saving stand for a neat desk experience, LG said in a previous press release today.

As with most CES announcements, the final pricing and an exact release date have not been determined and are expected to be disclosed later this year, at most in 2025. Although we are yet to get our hands on our first in-person experience with the UltraGear GX9 series we anticipate doing this in Las Vegas early next month and so expect the impressions then alongside more beautiful screens from many other manufacturers as well.
